Potty Training Puppies The Quickest Ways |
There are numerous reasons that most people just love to own pups for pets. Some people want them for companionship, others for protection or perhaps for income, but whatever their intentions are for owning one, potty training puppies is one of the most important things an owner needs to learn first.
Well if you are a first timer or just beginning to parent a cute and adorable puppy, you need not to worry. Potty training your pup could be a very challenging job, however, it does not have to be as traumatic as you'd expect it to be. Learn quick ways to house train your pup with success:
Designate a potty spot- whether you leash, crate, outdoor, or indoor train your puppy, you have to pick the spot and be consistent where you want him to go potty. Some people use a litter box, a pee pad, or a news paper for indoor and/or crate training, while a specific location in the yard would be ideal for out of doors or leash training. Make sure you introduce that specific spot to your puppy with supervision and make it uses the same spot in on a regular basis until it gets used to that spot.
Utalize a command or a trigger word - as most pups have instincts to understand and submit to commands, it is very important to stay consistent when picking a word or phrase when you want your puppy to do something. Just like a baby, a puppy has to listen to and learn your language before they can understand and do things. Don't confuse puppies with difficult and varying directions, instead, use any term that's short and easy to recognize such as "go potty" or "go poop" if you want them to.
Keep your puppy on a schedule- this is the key to potty training puppies success. Aside from feeding or playing with him on a certain time, you also have to create a schedule when you need to take him out to "do it" on a daily basis. Very young dogs more than likely will have to go out about every half hour during the day as their ability to detect the urge to go potty has not developed yet. None the less, they can be trained to become sensitive and used to a certain schedule, as they grow older.
Do not scold them- they are like babies that often make mistakes so you always have to be patient in potty training puppies. When and if they missed or had an accident, be gentle and respond with "no, no" and try again. Reward your puppy for an accomplished task- once your puppy has finally succeeded, try to use words or phrases like "good boy," "good girl," or "very good" to praise him or treat him with a good snack to let him know he is being rewarded for a job well done. Remember, puppies are smart by nature so praising or rewarding them might be a good way to encourage them to follow a routine.
